AndrĂ© Bazin (1918-1958), a pioneer of modern film criticism, wrote with the clarity of an educator and the enthusiasm of a devotee. Through his famously integrative approach–converging subjects as seemingly diverse as science, aesthetics, politics, and philosophy–Bazin offered an intuitive model for why movies mattered.
In the same spirit, Film Journey hopes to address a diverse assortment of films and give special attention to their historical, formal, and human values. Based in Los Angeles, it hopes to serve as a resource for cinephiles in a city known for its challenging dispersal.
